Viewing in the Classroom Videos,
DVDs, Films and other media presentations can be an excellent source
for
teachers to address academic standards in the classroom.
It is important that schools adhere to the
provisions of the U.S. Copyright Laws whenever a movie is viewed in any
school
setting (see Copyright Policies and
Procedures in Administrative Handbook). In all cases media
presentation should be relevant to the curriculum and add value to the
educational experience. Teachers must attain
administrative approval prior to showing any commercial movie to their
students. It is important for administration to keep in mind the
age of the students and the appropriateness of the content of the video
to determine if permission should be granted. A form (sample
below) is included in the Administrative Handbook for teachers to gain
approval from parents to view movies rated PG or PG-13. Specific
