Directory

Fundraising

  • Coordinates activities to raise funds for UPC’s operating budget and principal/teacher appreciation events

Geri Morgan Volunteer Award

  • Oversees award created in 2005 to honor the memory of long-time UPC member Geri Morgan.

Gifted Education

  • Acts as a resource for parents regarding PVUSD services, activities, and opportunities for gifted and high ability students; works with PVUSD Gifted Education Coordinator to identify interests and needs of gifted children and to develop gifted services to ensure that all students have the opportunity to fulfull their potential

Governing Board Observer

Hospitality

  • Assists with meeting set up and welcome, room arrangements, and other duties as needed

Legislative

  • Serves as a resource regarding legislative issues so that UPC members can be more effective advocates for our children and for public education.  Our mission is to educate our members about advocacy opportunities within our own local schools and beyond our district boundaries.  Legislative Committee members learn about district, county, and state ballot measures, candidates, and bills that impact education.  We participate in PVUSD's legislative training for parents and we network with parents in other school districts and with our representatives in the Arizona State Legislature.  In keeping with our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, we share this information with UPC members in a balanced and neutral manner.

Membership

  • Collects and solicits membership; maintains membership list

Newsletter

  • Produces monthly newsletter

Parent Resource Program

  • Administers program and trains parent advisors

Principal Appreciation

  • Oversees annual appreciation for principals

Public Relations

  • Handles communications regarding UPC’s programs and activities

School Council

  • Follows School Council issues; assists with School Council trainings

Special Education

  • Acts as a resource for parents regarding PVUSD services, activities, and opportunities for special education students; provides access to information about special education on a local, state, and national level

Teacher/Staff Appreciation

  • Supervises appreciation for selected teachers and staff at the elementary, middle, and high school levels based on nominations from the parent community
