two other articles we have received permission to post on our web site:
Senior

information parents need
to know.

adult,
which includes children 18 years and older, rent a hotel or motel room

consume spirituous liquor. 2.
A minor

cited if he/she is knowingly and willingly in the proximity of
alcoholic
beverages. This means even if the minor
has not consumed any alcohol. Limousine Services There
are many reputable limousine
services in the Valley. However, please
be aware that the industry is unregulated. Some
drivers may operate their vehicles while under the
influence of
alcohol, may offer alcohol to teens, or may bring a companion with them
when
teens are in the car. 1.
Discuss
with
your child what his/her plans are for prom night. 2.
Know
where
he/she is going. 3.
Discuss
with
your child the laws related to curfew, alcohol/drug consumption, sexual
activity, and safe driving. 4.
Before
hiring
a limousine service, inquire about its policies. Speak
to the limo driver and communicate your expectations
regarding teen behavior in the vehicle. 5.
Consider
offering your home or a community center with supervision for
after-prom
activities. Maybe you could go in with
a couple of other parents to share expenses and supervision. 6.
Provide
your
child with phone numbers where you can be reached throughout the
evening and
night. 7.
Talk to
the
parents of your children's friends before the big night to confirm
plans,
affirm your desires for the evening's entertainment, and lend
much needed
support. It
isn't easy being the parent of a teen, but remember you are not alone! |
