District Committees

To read reports of activities from various PVUSD committees, please click on the individual links below.  This is not a full list, but contains reports of committees in which parents are committee members or are being asked to become members, and the committees are currently meeting or recently completed their tasks.

Achievement, Assessment & Accountability (AAA)

Task:  Focus on the implementation of standards-based benchmark assessment and progress reporting.


Citizen's Curriculum Advisory Council (CCAC)

Task: 
Reviews and advises on PVUSD curricula questions and issues
Meetings: Monthly
Parent positions:  Parents at elementary, middle, and high school levels

K-6 Literacy Adoption Steering Committee

Task:  Recommend the parameters/guidelines for the district-wide K-6 Liiteracy Adoption Committee


K-6 Library/Media Center Configuration

Task:  To determine the purpose and role of the library/media centers in the future of PVUSD’s elementary schools. 


Community Legislative Network

Task:
  To determine ways PVUSD can most effectively influence policy at the state level.

Literacy List Committee

Task: To review teacher recommendations for addition to the PVUSD K-12 "Literature Lists."


No Child Left Behind Summer School Committee

Task:
  To
implement a process for hiring and interviewing teaching staff for the 2006 NCLB Summer School.


School Year Task Force


Task: 
   The task force will examine a student-centered focus in relationship to the design of the school year.  The task force will involve the collaboration of stakeholder members, who will brainstorm possibilities, study research and district data, hear and address task force input, and become the decision-making group to make a recommendation to the Governing Board for a school year adoption option that differs from recent choices.  There is a goal, through this task force's efforts, that a survey with options will be brought to the stakeholder groups in April for the 2007-2010 school years.

Superintendent's Reading Club

Task:
  To generate lists of books for district-wide summer reading program.
Facilitator: 
Denice Baldetti; Media Specialist, Sunset Canyon Elementary School

Technical Advisory Committee

Task:  To oversee all aspects of technology throughout PVUSD.

Facilitator:  Jeff Billings, Director of Technology
